I know I am a bit behind on this because this video has 6M views. But I just found this song because Chance the Rapper has been trending left and right and I love it. It rained today and we drove 4 hr, round trip to go pick apples at an apple orchard and for some reason I've been listening to this song the entire weekend. I love the production design of the moving stages, how it had the feel of a theater but shot in a way that made me still feel like a person watching a video. When films were initially made directors shot them more like plays and I like how this film has modernized that technique. Anyways I digress; love this song.
It's been a few Monday's since my last one, so here is another cover by Daniela Andrade. No, I am not obsessed with her (I lie), and yes I don't just listen to quiet acoustic songs. But I love this song in particular because it brings me back to one of my favorite movies: Fight Club. The original song has this raspy gritty feel that is fits the film perfectly but this take is a little different. She smooths out all the rough edges in the song and instead of the twang of pitch-y vocals we are so familiar with we get more of a quiet whisper of a memory that rouses you awake in the morning only to remind you that you are lost and nothing you ever currently have or had is secure.
It's kind of nice.
